A day of driving, it was bound to happen, the midnight field trip led to a late morning. But back to the cliffs we went to see them in the daylight. I had seen that just a couple of days ago, fog had covered the whole area and there was 0 visibility of the cliffs. Luckily we had a fairly clear day, and a hot one. We’ve been incredibly lucky to avoid any rain so far, but now our next couple days are warming up, only the mid-80s but it’s enough of a departure from the 60s and 70s we’ve been getting to remind us of home.
The cliffs were brilliant, we retraced our nighttime steps out to the viewpoints, and laughed at ourselves for how hopelessly we stumbled in the pitch-black just 12 or so hours earlier.
Here are the views, and lastly is my night time shot composited with a day time shot, not a true image, but the best of both worlds, and still a authentic-ish.

After the cliffs, we had a long three hour drive, luckily through beautiful countryside, as is the norm driving around Ireland. We ended in Killarney, this time arriving fairly close to check-in. We headed pretty immediately to dinner at the attached restaurant, I didn’t get photos, but it reminded me of if a steam punk submarine had a library reading room, really loved the vibe and very friendly staff. The menu felt a bit American, I ordered the brisket burger… it did not disappoint. Vanessa ordered the Fish of the day, salmon. I paired mine with Argentinian Malbec, and Vanessa with Italian Pinot Grigio.
Something about adjusting to the time change has still made our eating schedule odd. The past three days or so we’ve only eaten breakfast and dinner for the most part. So we’ve taken a few opportunities at our hotel restaurants to attempt pairing a glass of wine with our entrees, to mostly great success.

We decided to walk the 1km to the downtown area of Killarney, very thankful we did. We found a fairly large town center, very active, with both stores and restaurants/pubs still open, which hasn’t been the norm for some of our other stopover towns, though we didn’t get a chance to venture into all of them. I’d highly recommend Killarney, it felt alive, clean, and provided a lot of choice for a meal or drink.
I noticed a whiskey bar, with quite the menu, so we stopped in.

And with a walk back to the hotel, we wind down and look forward to two more days of the roadtrip, leading to some air travel to Edinburgh and back. Stay tuned!
