We woke on our last morning in Edinburgh, opting to skip the hotel breakfast which was so so. We thought we might just eat at the airport, but had about an hour of free time to explore.

After we were all packed up, we went a couple of cobblestone streets over to Tron Kirk Market, a church turned artist and craft market, very glad we did!

Less space than we thought, but a decent number of booths. Everything from pillows to street art, to whiskey barrel picture frames etc. Vanessa grabbed two reusable bags, Edinburgh and Scotland themed, some stickers, and bookmarks.

Then on our way back up the street, a coffee shop caught our eye. We grabbed a couple of cronuts and stopped at our hotel’s rooftop terrace, which had been occupied by a private party the first time we attempted to check it out.

But now, armed with our cronuts, we were all alone with a beautiful view of Old Town.

Then off to EDI for our flight back to DUB. We took off about a half hour late, and one bus ride to the city center and our last hotel, we arrived around 6pm.

One block from the hotel, was a bustling pub with three floors of entertainment. And we still needed to have our fresh Irish pint of Guinness, despite our lack of enthusiasm for beer, it felt obligatory.

Does a Guinness, one from fresh kegs straight from the distillery a few blocks south taste better than any other? Maybe? We drank our pint, I’d rather have a whiskey than another, but tourist achievement complete!

The England vs. Argentina FIFA match played on as we ate, we left just before England scored. Meanwhile upstairs we could hear a trad band playing Irish hits, a great last meal and end to the day.

And so concludes the trip for the most part, our flight departs around noon, with a layover and earning hours with the clock moving back as we travel, we should arrive in Sacramento around 9pm. Thankfully at night!
